June 4th, 2017 Hello, I'm Juliette, and I'm thirteen years old. People say I'm sweet but persistent, always wanting to get to the bottom of situations, no matter the danger. My older brother, George, is protective and not the kind of person to mess with. With his aggressive manners and every - growing fighting tactics, he'll have anyone begging for mercy. My younger brother, Peter, is sensitive. He hates the sound of violence in any form, and he believes people can change for the better, and so do my parents, Tiana and Michael. We were heading back from a cheer meet when we were flagged down by an eighteen year old girl. She wears a tye dye T-shirt that barely went down to her belly and shorts alternating colors of yellow, purple, orange, and blue, with a unnatural splatter of blood red, that went to the center of her thighs. To top the look, she wears blue Nike sneakers with red laces and rainbow gloves. She's also wearing a black riding hood, which is completely out of place in her colorful style. She introduced herself as Mary Mia and asked if she could have a ride home. After we asked why, she said, " I've been here all day. My parents were supposed to come pick me up from the store not to far from here. When I realized they're not coming, I decided to wait for any car to pass bye and ask the driver if I could have a lift. Not a single car passed since." So, my family said yes and let Mary into the car. While Mary was good company, I can't shake off the feeling that there's a reason her parents never came for her. I decided to keep that quiet; I didn't want to accuse someone I didn't know yet. One hour passed, and we finally arrived to her home. The entire house was empty, except for one black and white room. Mary told us that's her room. When she said that, I couldn't tell what was stranger: Mary wearing a black riding hood over colorful clothing, the fact her parents never came to pick her up, the splatter of blood red on her shorts, or her wearing colorful clothing in general when she clearly likes monochrome better. Mary didn't seem worried about her missing parents or the empty home. Instead, she sighed, turned to us, and said, " Don't worry. My parents are probably still at the movies again. Everytime my parents and I go out, we store everything in our house away. So when a theif passes bye our house, he won't think nothing of it. Make yourself at home." We accepted the invitation and decided to explore the home. Mary gave us the tour, and we played a game. Each of us would try to guess a room, and whoever gets the most right wins. Peter won the game; he's really good at guessing rooms, even if it's empty. Her room was obviously not included, since she told us it was her room. Sure enough, every room was empty except her room. Plus, there's one room with a white door that Mary won't let us explore. I thought nothing of it, mostly because my suspicion was focused on her room. After the tour, I asked Mary, "Remember what you said about storing belongings so no one can find them?" "Yeah, what about it?" Mary replied. "Everything is still in your room..." "So?" "What if a theif takes your belongings, finds the stored ones, and steal those?" "We placed trackers in our belongings. So when they're taken, all we need to do it pull out our phones, track down the thief, and get our stuff back." "That sounds like a good idea, but how do you plan on getting your stuff back once you find the theif?" "We'll hunt the bastard down." "What if the theif is armed?" "We have more weapons than we can count." "What if the theif take your weapons? Wouldn't it just be rational to call the cops? Are you even licensed for the weapons you have?" She kept silent after that. Her silence convinced me that she's more dangerous than she wants us to think. I'm sorry this is short, but I am just getting started on this story. This is only the first chapter. Thank you for the understanding!
