 Breathless

You were my everything—
I’d have done anything for you,
But you replied only with cold, brutal silence.

Each night, you haunt me in my dreams,
Reminiscing all the good times we had.
As much joy as it brings, the pain silently creeps behind.

I say, "Leave me alone," but also, "Don’t."
I tremble, afraid to lose the one emotion
I fought so hard to find—
Pain unlike any other, scorching through to your soul,
Leaving nothing but ashes in its wake.

Hoping to forget you, to move on,
I try to shield myself from you,
Yet every night, I am back with you,
Lost in this relentless cycle—
Because I lost: you.
