Heart Of Man Read Count : 13

Call me peasant
For the roughness of my ways
Call me scoundrel
For my humor strays

Try as I might
To be a better man
I see the reflection
That says otherwise

Duty and honor
Are pleasant indeed
But where are they found
When in need

Shall words be my all
Though I’ve nothing to say
No mighty deed
To transpire in word

No reconciliation
To bring us as one
To GOD above
Before time runs away

No swaying of heart
To see the light
No engaging of mind
To understand GODs ways

Have I missed the way
That would be of light
That all would follow
Before it became night

No noble gesture
To impress masses
Just a man dressed for work
But even that passes

Where is the eloquence
Depth of thought
That my richness
Would be unbound in word

No Sir Walter Scott
Or Edgar Allen Poe
Just a man wanting to share
Heartfelt words of love

But do I know of love
And all its features
How elegance moves
When wooed by love

How words flow
Like a new tasty wine
Satisfying in its taste
And worth the price to be paid

Where is the dinner
That would curb your appetite
That would end the hunger
Gnawing within

Is there food that would heal
And bring to life an old soul
Easing his burden in life
But taking on that of his Lord

Sharing with others
All he has learned
Willing to give all he has
To make others know of love

Where is the heart
That beats with love
Where is the life
That would give its all

Hopefully it is found within
In the breast of man
Beating with strength
Carrying the burdens of the brokenhearted

Can we all become carriers
Lifters of burdens
Prayers of faith
That all will be done in GODs time
