I mean we all have standards, expectations and pre-requisites that gatekeep and gatewatch our lives, hearts, space and time
We build our walls with careful hands
Expecting others to leap our demands
Yet there's a God that loves us anyway?
A love so pure cascades from above

When we all first wait for a person to gain their way into our lives for us to value and offer a piece of ourselves to them
There's a God that gave headfirst
Gave His entire self when we didn't even know Him nor cared to know Him
A God that loved and still loves us even when we never met His standards,  even when we still fall short
How come?
This love and selflessness baffles me
It is unrealistic, incomprehensible
How come?
So selfish yet be likened to a God like this
We're so quick to let go and write off anyone and anything that fails to meet or give the bare minimum
How come?
At the feet of a God so merciful when we don't even deserve it
At the hands of a God so gracious and gentle
What gives us the audacity to hold grudges and harbour malice
The grit to hold a human being at a bar so high for accessibility
Who are we really?
In shadows of doubt, we dare to grow cold
While He stands unwavering,  with a heart bold

When you are not conscious the hands holding you up, you easily condescending
However, consciously you'd be humbled

Is it not braver to open our gates,
And mirror the kindness that patiently waits?
