Feet blistered, back ached raw,Sun bleeds crimson, a painful maw.Cotton fields stretch, a mournful sight,Chains that bind me, day and night. But in my heart, a fire burns,A yearning for the day it turns.North Star whispers, a guiding gleam,Freedom's river, a waking dream.Stolen moments, hushed and low,Stories of the land where free winds blow.Quilt patterns, a secret code,Paths to follow, a heavy load.Tonight we run, beneath the moon,Leaving behind this cruel cartoon.Through tangled woods, and rivers wide,Hope our compass, fear our guide.Dogs may bark, and masters chase,But freedom's fire, they cannot erase.Harriet's spirit, a whispered prayer,Leading us onward, with love and care. We'll cross the line, where spirits soar,And breathe the air, that we yearned for.No more shackles, no more pain,Just open fields, and golden rain.Though scars remain, a bitter trace,Freedom's sunrise, lights my face.A new beginning, a life to claim,Escaped from shadows, into the flame.
