Purity

Water.

It’s all I can see for miles

and even though I should feel as though I’m drowning, suffocating;

I do not.

A weary sigh exits my lungs

and I breathe in the salty mist that swirls around me

engulfing my senses.

The waves rhythmically crash, rise, and fall against the cool rocks I rest upon

The sound reminding me of my own vicious thoughts.

For a second

I almost feel at peace;

almost.

The restless waves seemed to give me a certain feeling of purity

one such feeling I haven’t encountered in a while.

Whereas the restless waves would remain and continue to rise and fall

the feeling they gave me would not.
