And in that moment,
When her breath stunted,
Her hands began to shake,
Her legs grew weak,
Her heart raced faster,
Her thoughts ran marathons,
Her feet sunk into the solid ground,
Her body lost all function,
She realized that she was alive.
She made it, she survived.
She fell to her knees and couldn’t help but cry,
Why is she still here?
Why must she be forced to live on?
She’s already lost herself,
She’s lost her drive and her strength,
She’s got no purpose anymore,
She wants nothing less than to live.
And yet she still breathes,
Her eyes remain pried open,
She still feels everything so intensely,
And she’s more aware of the world around her,
More so than she’s ever been.
Please make it stop.
She doesn’t want to see, or smell, or hear, taste, or feel,
She simply wishes to let go.
Why isn’t she allowed to let go?
The question echoes through all the darkest corners of her brain,
But the phrase that screams at her even louder is her answer:
“It’s not your time.”
The nagging voice is right.
She still has people, she still has dreams to chase, and one big goal to fulfill.
It’s not her time.
She must live.
