Me Vs. Me Read Count : 15

See myself on the screen
Staring back at me
See the smile, recognize
Me becoming me

Is it true, the face I see
Or an AI facsimile
It looks complete
Not quite concrete
But it passes the test of eye

No facial hair or scars I see
So when did I pose for this
I see the man I used to be
But is it really me

He speaks a different language
His eyes aren’t like mine
Would my mother and family
Say that that was me

Never owned a shirt like that
At least that’s what I think
Is this chaos perpetrated
Or have I lost my mind

Ask him questions about his life
To see if he’s like me
Nothing underhanded
But just to understand me

He says he doesn’t understand
The questions I’ve put forth
Nothing about the language
Just the character here put forth

His life experiences are different
These questions show to me
I would know the answers
If he were really me

Bites and bits upon the screen
Reflect my face to me
But who’s inside this mind disguised
That can’t see me for me

Send him back from whence he came
His story is no good
But someday, somehow
He’ll find the answers and his story will be oh so good

Be careful with your reflection
Not all are you, you see
Some will sit and deceive
While you dream of eternity

Guard you heart and mind
Guard your friends indeed
Show them all your true identity
Not a false soliloquy, or dirty iniquity
That reminds you of the devil
Who used to live in thee
