A Longing to Belong

Have you ever felt the need to fit in
A longing of inclusion
In places that advocate for exclusion
Where walls are built for pure disconnection?

That feeling to be part of them
But there's only seclusion
And so much separation
Could this be apartheid..?

There's a plea within your heart,
But it's like a prayer torn apart.
The urge to leave, to run, to hide,
Yet nowhere feels warm inside.

Regret is etched upon my face,
How did I get trapped in this space?
A part of this cruel divide,
A fate I never could decide.

This seclusion I despise
The one,I only learned about in history
Wait is history repeating itself in my life
Or could this be another story

I wonder if there's no sympathy,
But at least show me empathy.
Don’t you have some humanity?
Because all I see is antipathy.

They glare at you with burning hate,
Their hearts so cold, they seal your fate.
They envy joy you try to own,
And secretly, they wish you’d go.

But the day you leave,
Or walk away from their illusion,
Is a day you'll keep believing,
Yet never see its conclusion

Ndina :)
