In shadows cast by judgment's heavy hand,
I tread a path they neither see nor know.
Their whispers, sharp, like daggers in the sand,
Against the grain, my true self dares to go.
To please my God, not man, my heart is sworn,
Yet in their eyes, I’m but a foolish thorn,
A rebel lost, with dreams too brightly shown.

Parental eyes, so stern, misunderstand,
They see rebellion where my soul is free.
In love’s sweet gaze, they cannot comprehend,
My truth, they twist, as if it should not be.
Discomfort blooms from roots they cannot see,
I’m but a puzzle, lost in their decree,
A heart mistaken, yearning to be known.

Friends, who claim to know my every thought,
In shadows of their doubts, I walk alone.
They see a stranger, not the truth I’ve sought,
A heart whose beats their ears have never known.
Uncomfortable, I drift through their concerns,
Misunderstood, their trust is not my own,
A fire burning, cold against the stone.

To be oneself is wisdom’s highest call,
Yet wisdom’s voice, they silence with their fear.
They mold me in a shape that feels so small,
A truth denied, where my true self is clear.
My love, confused, in shadows stands apart,
Believing lies that tear us both in two,
A heartbreaker, where love is all I knew.

Disappointment haunts my every step,
A ghost of truths that they refuse to see.
I never meant to cause this pain they kept,
Yet here I stand, a liar, bitterly.
In God’s own eyes, my soul finds its release,
But here, in life, my heart knows no such peace,
A journey true, yet lonely as the sea.
