A brokened home makes a broken man, a young boy growing up without a father, troubled teenage years to adulthood, he never set out to become a failure. 
He never should have to witness the constant fighting his parents had with each other, what happens if he grows up to do the same, well I guess it in his nature. 

Not all broken men come from brokened homes, some just can't live up to expectations, how can he develop a mind of his own when he has to constantly do as he's told.
Not every life lessons can be taught at home, with his freedom limited to merely hours, anger and resentment towards his parents can at times manifest in dangerous ways and to make matters worse an hour past his curfew and he'll get scold. 

For the many young boys who may have fallen through the cracks, there are a hopeful few who with a little guidance and self determination manages to make something of themselves but what happens to the ones who fell behind, the ones who were abandoned by their parents, who only knew what the streets taught him, will he grow up to become what society has branded him with, a good for nothing, the man in the high castle and the average man both are suffering from a lack of understanding of he is, the world around him and his place in it.
