A man imprisoned
By the walls he built
Lined with sin
Grouted with guilt
Years he spent
Assembling all
Turned into
A grand fine hall

Years spent wandering
Trudging about
Speaking of his deeds
Covered in doubt
Never saw the light
Never saw the way
Never saw the darkness
Take his life away

Here he heard the devil
Echo in his brain
Laughing at his sorrow
Laughing at his pain
Shadows surrounding
Chasing sanity
Heart of his looking
For a shining sea

Someone come knocking
Tear down these walls
Show this man freedom
Hear how he calls
He saw a sliver of light
Heard a distant call
Heard a voice say his name
Just outside these walls

Here, here he cried away
On the other side of this wall
He heard the voice say invite me in
And I’ll remove these walls
He said, come in please
Do not delay
I’m am in need of
Help this very day

The walls went away
And there his savior stood
A man in a robe
Said I am your food
Forget about your past
Come away with me
From now on
You will be free

The man he rejoiced
Said, let’s away
Let’s find a land
To share You are the way
Jesus led the way
To a journey quite unique
But one with purpose
Not in circles and oblique
