We were close, 
But never so close,
 To being on the same side,
 And getting lost.

  We lived on the edge of death for many days,
  But when we came out into the light, 
 The love in us burned.

  We were close,
  But never close enough,
  To fill in all the blanks
 And set our hearts in love.
