Mermaid Wanderlust Read Count : 139

All dolled up
for the day at hand
the mermaids
picked shells from
the shore of the sand
while sitting on rocks
on the edge of the land.

The breeze was
lovely and sent
chills down their fins,
they knew staying out
in plain eyes to see
was the worst of all sins.

Rebels they were
and too young to
recognize any fault,
they’d deepen pain
within immortal wounds
of ancestors with
the sea full of salt.

A stormy overhead
caused a fright in
the girls with those
innocent faces &
beach wave curls
AndI into the ocean
of the only world that they knew,
they dived into the safe-haven of blue.

Despite the hazard of
Their antics today
of such a dangerous
Place to play
Tomorrow,
Again,
They'd test their luck
For the world inside
the deep blue sea,
Just never seemed
Like enough.
