ENGLISH TRANSLATION:

Allah – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence.
Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep.
To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth.
Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission?
He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills.
His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not.
And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

Allah! There is none worthy of worship but He, the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? He knows what happens to them in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter. And they will never compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

Surah Al-Baqarah - 2:255

Before sleeping -10

285. Aamanar-Rasoolu bimaaa unzila ilaihi mir-Rabbihee walmu’minoon; kullun aamana billaahi wa Malaaa’ikathihee wa Kutubhihee wa Rusulihee laa nufarriqu baina ahadim-mir-Rusulih wa qaaloo sami’naa wa ata’naa ghufraanaka Rabbanaa wa ilaikal-maseer.

The interpretation meaning of Amana Rasulu is The Messenger [Muhammad (Peace be upon him)] believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and [so do] the believers. Each one believes in Allah, His Angels, His Books, and His Messengers. They say: “We make no distinction between one another of His Messengers” – and they say: “We hear, and we obey. [We seek] Your Forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return [of all].

286. Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. “Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.

Before sleeping- 11

Read surah Al Mulk.

Abdullah bin Mas'ud narrates that “whoever recites Surah al-Mulk every night, Allah will prevent the punishment of grave by this Surah”. According to another tradition, when a person reads Surah Al-Mulk before sleeping, an angel comes down to protect him because he is not able to protect himself due to sleep.

It not only provides protection in this life and hereafter but will protect you in-between. In a hadith, it was mentioned that the Prophet Muhammad () recommended to read Surah Muk every night before going to bed. By doing so, it is said that you would be protected from the torment in the grave.

I seek the forgiveness of Allah, there is no true god except Allah, the Ever-Living, the self subsisting and I turn to him in repentance.

9.  Dua of prophet Ayyub (AS).

Rabbi Anni massaniyaḍḍurru wa Anta Arhamurrahimin.

Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful.

This supplication shows the manners with which Prophet Ayyub dealt with Allah.
