Wrapping paper coats the box,

it glistens off the fluorescent lights

A cute little red bow

And a small note

You unravel the ribbon

And suddenly see a flood of memories as powerful as a title wave rushing towards you

There’s one of you smiling and making silly faces

There’s the one that says goodbye to your older brother

There’s the one you go to visit him with little braids in your hair

There’s one when you’re making a slide out of pillows off your bed

There’s one where you have too much glitter on your face

And thousands more to unfold

But you wrap it back up and save it for another time

You noticed a note at the beginning of your journey,

So you unseal the envelope

And it reads;

From the greatest grifter ever,

The time thief
