Sleepless Nights Read Count : 109

It's 3 in the morning,
Still staring at the clock,
My eyes are glued open,
And my mouth is glued shut,
The silence is crushing,
The pressure is on,
I'm still painfully awake,
Three hours past dawn.
So quiet in here I could hear a pin drop,
Hushed whispers,
Faded footsteps,
Why am I still up?
The scariest part about the night,
Are the thoughts that come racing with the flicker of a light,
The reflection in the mirror from the corner of my eye,
The forceful repetition: "out of sight out of mind,"
The creeking doors,
The wind's loud roars,
The AC suddenly stopping when the clock hits four,
Everyone keeps telling me to just close my eyes,
But that doesn't stop the voices that echo through my mind.
It's now 7 in the morning,
I'm wide awake,
I'll have to sleep soon,
To ease this pounding headache.
