Yesterday I carried what was left of my sun
Carried it in my hand
laid it gently to rest
the ashes now apart of the sand
The sunshine’s been silenced,
As we enter an era of dreamland
Reality has set; dawn brings dreams
Thoughts have reversed,
Rejecting normalcy it seems
The loss of the sun, the loss of light
Emptiness begins to rise
Darkening the depths of sight
It’s an unmarked challenge
Awakening an endless midnight
Yesterday I carried what was left of my sun
Carried it in my hand
laid it gently to rest
the ashes now apart of the sand
The sunshine’s been silenced,
As we enter the era of dreamland
Words stated previously make no sense
If one has never laid the sun to rest
Our Universe gives us no pretence
To share the energy created in these events
The heart longs to live in past tense
The soul either lives where misery dwells
Or it rises with the tide of the ocean swells
Yesterday I carried what was left of my sun
Carried it in my hand
laid it gently to rest
the ashes now apart of the sand
The sunshine’s been silenced,
As we enter the era of dreamland
These words are finally directed to the ones
Who have lived through life shattering loss
This message is for anyone who’s lost the sun
Sunshine can’t be extinguished
It resides for a life time in love
their light can’t be diminished
Yesterday I carried what was left of my sun
Carried it in my hand
laid it gently to rest
the ashes now apart of the sand
The sunshine will burn on
touching every part of where you stand
Goodbye Sunshine
Goodbye Dad
Your sun will always be mine
Your princess is no longer sad
Yesterday I carried what was left of my sun…
