Walked along for milesWith the sound of my chainsDrove me wildMade me insaneWho was I supposed to beWhen all around only darkness I seeAnd the love and salvation that I wished forCould not be found in all I could seeI was just a slaveTo those things I abhorComing back for secondsWhile groveling on the floorI hear a whisperOf a thing I should knowI hear a voiceCalling me through a doorAnd how am I to knowDiscern wrong and rightWhen I don’t know the voiceCalling in the nightWho was I supposed to be on the day I was bornWhen I was too young to know of a mindAnd the truth and understanding were beyond my kenAnd artifacts and history were not something to teach me their ways
