Usually when does confidence becomes a sin?
But knowing that confidence itself is not technically a sin.
It is always good to be confident once you know where you place your confidence however,
Pride for instance is a sin,
It's actually the very first sin that God extremely hates which was one of the reasons why Lucifer fell.
Usually when confidence becomes a sin is whenever we think too highly of ourselves but also we need to know pride is also a spirit which is also as a spirit of haughtiness.

Usually with confidence we adorn ourselves the way God adorns us, but with confidence we know stable confidence is only relied in him.
And his Spirit within us is much greater than of yourself.
Once we recognize the true inside of our authentic and unique selves we recognize the Spirit within us.
But with a crushed spirit will dry up the bones of your entire being, (Proverbs 17:22) but usually when we depend on ourselves with no root foundation.
So usually certain areas or circumstances in our lives will shake our confidence unless you recognize the Spirit of God in you normally most of us don't recognize or unknowingly don't realize why in any situation that we're able to keep strong and our emotions in tact because it's only by his Spirit that strengthens us even when we don't know it.

1 John 4:4

"Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world."

Usually we tend to forget where we come from or most of us don't believe.

But one thing for sure is that we come from somewhere greater than this world.
So we shouldn't look for any validation from the world but only from God because he knows all of us and is the One who formed us in our mothers wombs.

So we know that validation from the world usually brings forth death not just in a physical sense but moreso spiritually and emotionally.

But once we know that our confidence is placed in Jesus we should know that we could withstand any criticism or judgements from this world.

But as a different type of confidence is when we completely rely on strictly ourselves is when we fall the most because you can claim confidence but if you're spirit is crushed what fruit would that bare.

If looks and appearances of yourselves is the main confidence than you would surely fall

That's why we shouldn't rely solely on ourselves completely but rely on God for our strength and value and he'll strengthen us eternally from inside out.

So you read

1 Peter 3:3

"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes."

But also

1 Timothy 2:9

"I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,"

So therefore you don't need to change your appearance for the world,
But for you because God has already made all of us beautiful in our own authentic way
