Promised Land Read Count : 85

I hear the voice say
You shouldn’t be here
This is not the land
Your Father promised you

Promises of a wonderful land
Filled with surety and opportunity
Grass and trees as far as the eyes can see
Fruit and food to feed

But the land I’m in
Is frozen and black
Crushing me under
It’s weight
Calling my name
With sugar and wine
It’ll be my death
This time

Can you hear the Fathers voice
Speaking truth and love
Can you see the Sons death
Promising life today

But the voices I hear
Scream my name
Turning my head
To my eternal shame
Pointing out my faults
Pointing out my scars
Telling me those promises
Are too far….away

Where is the light
For this path I am on
Where is my guide
That I cannot see
Where…….
Where…….
Where…….
Oh GOD

Very nice poem with subtle ideas near the time of death.
