The Piper Read Count : 91

I live in a land

Where money is king

Greed is the god

To whom they all sing

Land of the lost

Has come to my hand

So gather around

And strike up the band

Play me a tune

You piper of old

Tell me a story

Of silver and gold

Tell me I must

Have more than the rest

Before I die

And you lay me to rest

Play me a tune

You piper of old

Tell me a story

Of silver and gold

So sell me a soul

For my silver and gold

That I may be whole

No matter the cost

So I can chase dreams

I want no part of

And wander the desert

Like a man who is lost

Play me a tune

You piper of old

Tell me a story

Of silver and gold

Tell me I'm lost

If I don't have it all

Because of my greed

I've missed my true call

Play me a tune

You piper of old

Tell me a story

Of silver and gold

I once had a dream

I thought was my own

But discovered a plot

To deceive and disown

A nightmare arose

And consumed me whole

Invaded my brain

To consume my soul

The cost of this dream

Was so great a price

That none could recall

If it glittered at all

We stumbled and fell

When the wage came due

But on played the piper

Like it was nothing new
