                                                             Chapter 1




    Running though a forest. It is dark and foggy. It smelled of trees and morning dew. The sun was not up yet. Where was he? Where should he go? Where was he going? He didn't have the slightest clue. All he knew was that he needed to run. He needed to run fast. His legs seemed to move of their own accord as if someone else was pulling the strings. Panting. Breathing hard. He tripped and started rolling down a hill. 
    "Ah!" the breathy sigh escaped his lips. Who's voice is that? It wasn't his. 
    Wait, he knew these woods! They are near a trail that leads to town! 
    He pushed to his feet. Those hands. They didn't look like his. Though the hands were covered in mud from the fall, he could make out the small hands that looked like they belong to a girl. He started running. How had he started running? He didn't tell his legs to run. 
    BANG! A gunshot rang through the frigid air, chilling him to the bone. He felt his hand grab at his arm. He willed himself to ignore the blood oozing from his arm. He couldn't feel the wound or any pain  emanating from it.
    'Am I dying?!' He thought. 
    'No, you're not dying,' a calm reply came into his mind.
    That voice. It wasn't his. It was a girl's voice. But why was it in his head? 
    'I'm not in your head; you're in mine,' the voice stated. 
    'What?! Ok, who are you? What's going on? What are you running from?' His panicked mind spit out the questions faster than he-she-they were running. 
    'You're I'm my mind. I'm Jo. Right now, I'm trying to lose this hacker.' 
    'Hacker? Why are you running from a hacker? Did he steal something from you digitally?' 
    'Very funny, Shawn.' she chuckled with a hint of sarcasm. Suddenly, they changed direction and climbed up a tree. They stopped when they reached a high point in the tree that kept people from seeing them. They sat down on a branch, and began to silently catch their breath. 
    'No seriously, what's going on?' Shawn asked. 'And how do you know my name?'
    'You really don't know?' he heard the concern in her voice. 
    'No?' something made him hate to disappoint her. 
    'Shawn- Oh, no... We got to move. Now!' 
    They climbed down and ran in a random direction.
    'What's wrong? What's happening?'
