Mindy Martins. That's my name. I'm a 10th grader, even though I'm a nerd, I'm really cute. I consider myself lucky to be able to date the most popular guy in school. Keith Wells, my boyfriend. I love that word "MY". My boyfriend, mine. Makes me blush just thinking of it now. How  dumb was I? I mean really, Keith, date me? Mindy Anna Martins? Yeah right.

It was the summer of my 16th year and I couldn't wait to kiss Keith at our school's annual summer dance, THE SUMMER STRUMMER. It was gonna be the best! Yep, it really was, that is, until...

I was in the bathroom washing my hands when I heard some gossips gossiping. "Yeah, that Mindy girl right?" One said. I flinched, someone had just switched on my attention mode. "Yeah, Keith said it himself! Today, he's gonna make Ariel Ardeley his girlfriend, apparently,  he's ditched her" The second continued. "No way! That like, I dunno, sucks right? If I were in Mindy's shoes, I'll be in a stall, crying my eyeballs out!" The third butted in. I bit my lower lip so hard, it bled. 

What the hell? My eyes weren't lying...There stood Keith, outside in the ischool's court yard, locking lips with the mermaid Ariel. I gulped. What to do what to do. I really had no idea. I wasn't gonna confront him. He could have her. 
I walked back to the party in the gym, trying my hardest not to look broken hearted. I felt a tap on my shoulder and I turned. Right there, in front of me, stood the most handsome nerd ever. He was complete, glasses, beanie and all. "May I have this dance?" He asked. Dressed like that? You bet! I nodded. This dance wasn't so bad after all was it?


That brings us to now.  Me happily married to Zander Tipton. The nerd that danced with me on that lonely summer night.
