I Hate Being An Author

They wanna know what it's like being a writer.
For me, it feels like papercuts.
Blood spurting from fingers, and
Jacarandas sprouting from my clutch.
Subtle enough
That I don't notice until I stain my shirt.
It's living to breath life
And dying for approval.
Algorithms could care less
Cause the reviews are missing.
It's spending years validating
The point of your existence
For the proof
To disappear in an instant.
