In the darkest hour
A fulminant surge
A ravenous monster
Rending the cages of his heart
Feeding on anger and sadness

She was gone; lost forever
The smothered memories
Came rushing like a torrent
Death was unfair
Pain was its flare

In the obscurity of his darkest time
All he could think of was her eyes
How the moon was jealous of her smile
The wind changes direction
And sings when she walks

Time might heal the pain
Memories might conceal the scar
But he was at his darkest
At the verge of breakdown
When all he needed
Was a flicker of light
