... a Family Story ...

Yesterday
I threw tantrums
Mad at them and what they did
Hurt enough to beat war drums
And draw borders bold in red
Then to bed for a wholesome night
Sweet with dreams the mood in spite

So today I've had the space
Large enough and all the peace
Silence that made pindrops boom
As I roamed, from room to room
Happily whistling homemade tunes
Free at last to love my voice

And now turked alone in bed
Snuggling bedding cosy and clean
Corner to corner I twist and turn
Jump with every cricket jump
Lone, afraid and without sleep
 Strange but fondly wishing back
All the noise and sweet old mess
Little family quarrels yes
As mixed with love
And now gone
