Always afraid of the night, 
The darkness in it empties my light.
  I feel a heartache that does not pass. 
 
I catch a sigh between my teeth and tongue. 
 My hands fall numb in a prayer, 
I hope to wake up rested tomorrow. 

 Always afraid of what is to come, 
Raindrops fall from my thoughts. 
 I got used to sleeping alone every night, 
That feeling of not belonging to anyone. 

 My mind is the prison
 Where I keep my heart handcuffed.
