That cold winter day
She sat at the table
Reading the news
As the sun was peaking
Through the horizon
And snowflakes fell
Slow to the ground
It brought a smile
Across her lips
Sipping on coffe
With faint memories
Of day with her father
Down by the lake
Skating so freely
Over the ice
Without a care
And chill in the air
Yet now she was older
But the memories were there
Still in her heart
And the warmth in her soul
Swearing to promise
She’d never let go
