I wanted to know your soul 
The way no one knew you, 
Not even your friends or your own family.

  I hoped we would both build a better world, 
But we thought differently
 And neither of us knew.

 I thought I was enough for you
 And you won't look back.
I thought what you were telling me 
Was what you thought.  

You think it's easy for me to forgive 
And start over.
You think I'll ever be the way I was with you, 
But I can't, darling.

  I can't look you in the eye 
Without hurting my heart. 
I can't touch you anymore, 
Thinking you're just mine 
When I know it's not like that.

I will disappear from your arms
 Like cigarette smoke.
 I will disappear from your dreams 
Without you noticing me.

You didn't know how to defend me,
 You didn't try to understand my thoughts. 
 I won't tell you anything but I know 
That one day you will remember my words.
