The Open Sea

I set sail one day,

Across the open sea.

Leaving behind the life I knew,

Desperate to escape my misery.

But the sea is a beast,

Not meant for those unsure.

And it cannot be traversed

By men of innocent demure.

So much time

I've been lost at sea.

So much time

I've been tired, cold, and hungry.

I'm tired of living

On this sea of despair.

Tired of the storms,

And the mental warfare.

I feel so cold,

As cold as ice.

My soul grows dark,

The eternal price.

I hunger for answers

To questions of myself.

A hunger that consumes

Every bit of my health.

For one tiny moment,

A moment of clarity,

The waves and the storms

Remain calm for me.

But the days and weeks

And months on these waves,

Have taught me a lesson,

The seas are of constant change.
