"WHERE WE STAND AFTER 70 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE" Are we really independent? Have we achieved what freedom fighters dreamed to achieve? Everyone is busy to make sense of bloodshed and trauma,to explore the legacy of constitution and granted fundamental rights.70 years after partition we are at the bay just surrounded by fences and occupied minds, more important is that partition was not just static event that took place in1947,it will continue to question our nationalism, relations, media and more importantly personal identity, if we look, it divided hearts, families and more than that we lost humanity in the process,we did every worst thing to prove our nationalism. The pain of being kept away from families, friends will haunt every coming generations of both the countries. Verily, the partition not only affected families, the communal identities are getting crystalized deep into the fabrics of society, both countries trying to define nationalism on religious identity, cricket matches are becoming war ,people restoring to anger over loosing and taking each other as enemy, both countries defining themselves in opposition to each other, both trying to prove themselves better than other. We have achieved from all that but yes dehumanizing each other, animosity, hatred speech's,destroying culture and threatining each other.India was build on the edifice of love and more importantly on the Gandhian principle core of which is non violence irrespective of situation because for Satyagrahi hatred is alien to his nature.i remember the famous quote by Gandhi”An eye for an ey will make the whole world blind”. True patriotism would be respect for each other, abolishing all the differences, work for betterment of ones country, resolving all the sidelines to let the peace prevail in the region, to abolish the pain every person is suffering here and across. Its not too late,we still can unite and blowout the fire within our hearts where hatred has grown more than love. Not until we dare to regard ourselves as a nation, not until we respect ourselves, can we gain the esteem of others,or rather only then will it come of its own accord(Albert Einstein) _"Irfan Qadir"
