I always looked forward
To go and spend the day
Saturdays and sundays
I wouldn't go outside to play
Watching wrestling on TV
On weekend afternoons
Was something I enjoyed
A good guy hitting a goon
Grandpa did love that
Just like clockwork
He wouldn't miss it
It was one of his perks
Fixing small engines
Or bikes we could ride
I remember the wagons
He made with pride
Grandma was special
So very kind and sweet
I enjoyed talking with her
Her stories such a treat
Her knitting and cooking
Was the very best
Her homemade jams
Could pass any test
She was very strong minded
In her heart and soul
Do not ever cross that
Or heads will soon roll
There's nothing I wouldn't do
To have that once more
I miss them so deeply
My heart is very sore
The best type of parents
That anyone could ask
To try and compete with that
Simply an impossible task
