When you are real, 
They think you are fake.
 When you are happy, 
They know how to bring down 
All your painful tears.  

When you're sad,
 They think you're playing. 
 When you want to speak,
 Their words make you stay silent. 

 When you open up in front of them, 
They make bad jokes.
When you shut up,
 They think you have nothing good to say -
And they start laughing out loud about it.  

Nobody really knows you, 
But everyone thinks they know you for sure. 
 When you don't do what they tell you, 
They think you're making mistakes 
Without their advice,
 Through your own choice,
Through your own fears.
