                            part1.

Hey don't look at me like am a devil from an evil forest. Yes I did it, so what? I never asked to be trapped in an awkward situation, but her hatred for me made me do it. She used to be my mom best friend, till one afternoon I was called that mom fell ill and was rushed to the hospital. I wondered how could her best friend not pay her a visit on her sick bed. The sickness got worst that mom was taken to her home town for some spiritual cleansing. Everyone in my neighborhood thought mom had died, they are already soaked in tears. I also did when dad said "don't bother coming to the hospital, your mom will be taking to the village to rest". After the call, dad number wasn't going through, this made me believed he's on his way to laid mom to rest. Madam Caro who's my mom best friend, was happy while everyone else were said to be mourning.

I was the only daughter of my parents, they loves me with their single soul. Madam Caro had four children one for her previous husband and three for this current man who often beat her black and blue. Mom and i always took pity on her, thinking the husband was the bad one. The man do try his best to cater for his family, but Madam Caro was blinded by jealousy to noticed her husband efforts. Always wanting what I wanted for her only daughter, because she gave birth to 3 boys and a girl. The girl was from her previous husband.

The next day, dad called and said mom is with the elders that will heal her, oh no i misheard dad yesterday. I kept the news to myself, no need to disturb the neighbors with my family problems. I sighted Madam Caro from afar, I greeted her, her response shocked me. "Why are you greeting me ogbanje girl". I told her once before to stop addressing me as ogbanje. Am just fifteen, I wasn't God that shut my mom's womb after she delivered me. My parents for once never see me as ogbanje. I made a vow not to greet her again.

Before mom sickness have overheard Madam Caro conversation with my mom, how she wished God can blessed her with husband like my dad, always complimenting my dad deeds even the least, but disregard her husband. Whenever mom try to let her see the good side of her husband, she will always fired back with "that man that use to beat me to stupor, nothing good can come out of him". Unknown to us that she sleeps around with men that's why the husband always beat her. Whereas she will lied to mom that they are relative and trying to help them, but her husband is just a proud man in poverty.

Dad had stayed for 5days in the village, he came to the house to pack some clothes. Reaching home from school i met Madam Caro in our house, laughing and joking with dad. She went to her house to bring food for dad. A woman that has never asked how have been faring since all this while. I was angry with the woman that i threw her food away, preventing dad from eating, i did it.
