I only saw the real face of people 

When they no longer needed me.  

I saw the real face of a lover

 Only after the first quarrel, 

Or in the end, at our breakup.
  From nice words to insults 

Was just a small step, 

Only then I began to see 

The real color of his/her face.
  I only saw the real face of my friends

 When I tried to be more reserved about my life,

 And make certain changes 

When I lost my confidence.
 They pretended not to notice,

 I pretended not to care,

I only saw the real face of people 

When they no longer needed me there.
