The night was dark, gloomy, dusky, and as silent as a deserted cemetery. As I walked home from the library I realized that the street lamps were flickering. I tried to ignore it and walk home as fast as possible. Suddenly, I saw a shadow lurking behind a car. At first glance I thought it was a cat then I looked again and I thought it was far too big to be a cat. A shiver of fear ran up my spine. Fear rose in me like mercury in a thermometer as my heart threatened to bust out of my chest.I thought that it could be a kidnapper , or even a murderer! I started running as fast as my feeble legs could carry me to an unknown destination. I kept on looking back to see if the shadow was still following me and to my utter disappointment it was. A tsunami of tears poured down my rosy cheeks as I kept on running. My heart was beating so fast and I was huffing and puffing. My fatigued muscles ached under the strain of my feeble body as sweat trickled down my body. After running for what felt like an eternity,I finally saw a couple at the end of the path that I was running on. I smiled like a dog with two tails knowing that I would be saved. When I finally approached themI stood still and immediately felt like the air got knocked out of my lungs and my heart was beating loudly in my chest. They didn’t look like humans at all. They were hideous nameless, dreadful unfinished, middle-sized looking creatures. A frown slowly made its way to my face as I tried to continue with my running. By bad luck I tripped over a rock which made me fall on the cold concrete floor. I was lying there helplessly like a sack of potatoes. I closed my eyes not wanting to see the horrible site. Within two shakes of a lamb’s tail, I heard “ wake up! Wake up! You are late for school,” My mother shouted. I opened my eyes and I quickly looked around my surroundings to make sure it was just a nightmare. I was drenched in sweat and my heart was still beating so fast as it felt so real. Even though it was just a nightmare i will never forget it!
