Who needs sandpaper?
Life’s rough enough, I’d say
Scratching at my patience
Rubbing me up the wrong way.

 I’d rather take the plane
Shave me a smoother glide
Re-shape, define new outlines
For a faster, smoother ride.

As it stands, more like a grinder
Relentless, driven, stone
Wearing down my thickened skin
Ground, down to the bone.
