I have been so dissuaded

By this so-called life.

Death, and violence, and misery,

Define the human plight.

Love is a concept

As foreign as the stars,

And everyday I cover up

All the wounds and scars.

Mankind, it would seem to me,

Defines itself through misery.

Pain and suffering

Put prominently on display,

Emphasizing the very heart

Of society’s decay.

Intelligence and morality

Steadily decline,

Advances in technology

Making it all sublime.

The concepts of right and wrong,

Once so well defined,

And yet we find new ways

To blur those very lines.

What bearing does this all have

Upon our worlds fate?

I really don't know,

But it may be too late.
