I could hide how I feel -
 And smile at you,
 Pretending to be happy.
  I could do as you do,
 And act indifferent. 

 My wings are broken,
 But you continue to fly.
My soul is broken, 
But you continue to fight. 

 Could I take my heart out of my chest
 And forget everything I feel?  
Could I be the indifference
 With which you treat me all day long?

  But darling, you know,
 I could hide how I feel -
And smile at you,
 Pretending to be happy.
But darling, you know,  
 I could do as you do,
 And act indifferent.
