What happens when a whole city wakes up with amnesia? Worst part yet, people can only remember family and their home. Hence, it's only a father, mother, brother, and sister that one can remember.

Prologue

March 15th-    Friday
Dear Journal,

My dad, only just informed me of my recruitment into his company's top secret project. I dare say, I don't feel as giddy my fellow mates would in such a situation. The project commenced 6 months back, I do believe the name was EVANESCENCE. I, for one, am not falling for the cheap tricks they are trying to pull. EVANESCENCE has a fishy ring to it, and immediately going to investigate the cause of this fishiness. 
Based on the data that was given to me, EVANESCENCE deals with the manipulation of the human mind, in other terms, the brain, both to extract, impute and totally erase either memories or instructions. What's strange is that, all of a sudden, they're letting in child geniuses on the project.

1:Genesis: Every story has a beginning, this is mine

I groan painfully as I sit up in my bed. 'What on earth?' I think. I had had a weird dream before I had woken up. I had dreamt I had been gagged and forced to inhale a purple gas. Strange...

"Ok, so here's the information we've gathered" My elder brother Tyler began. Currently, everyone in our neighbourhood was in our sitting room, sitting in a circle around our giant oak wood centre table. "According to our interviews conducted with civilians, nobody can remember anyone apart from family members" He continued. 
"What about people outside Catle City? Are they okay?" A brunette spoke up. I recall that her name was Skai Tim. Tyler rested his chin on his barrelled fists. "The phone lines have been cut, plus, there's no reception on our mobile phones. Besides, the whole city is surrounded by walls so wandering out for greener pastures is futile". 

So based on these facts, we're back to the middle ages, with no phones and Internet, great, just great.
