Your eyes of faded coral rings
Dismantle the stars that the evening brings
They were there to disguise that the night is blind and leaves on the ground know the wind has lied
My hope is not to hold you
As the moon hangs pale in some quiet piece of sky
I only long to know your name
As I am the one who was burnt by your flame
The trees have left their emptiness against the night
With their branches cautiously reaching out only to be painted by the faintest of brushes of a luminescent butterfly
Perhaps the rain is tearful
Not knowing the rainbow is a smile turned upside-down
Perhaps the clouds hold on too long to their tears
Until they are lost or until they are found
Perhaps the rainbow is afraid of a clear sky
Incase one by one its colours dry
And a bird with black feathers comes and goes from time to time
Obscuring the sun and the dreams that were mine
If i could teach my mind a wordless song
Not thinking that the day ahead's to long
I'd find that bird to ride upon and warm my dreams in the midday sun
