When your heart breaks
I am your worst thoughts
What you dred most
I shatter your happyness
And crush your dreams
I'm the monster that lurks
Beneath your children's beds
But I'm only
What you make me
I'm all your horrible "what if's"
Come true
And worse then any drug
But I'm only

I'm the unknown
In the lingering fog
I'm what awaits for you
At the bottom of solid ground
Just waiting so patiently
For you to slip and fall
