She was wracking her brain asking herself, "did he really break my heart over and over again?.... Or was I the one who kept breaking my own heart by making excuses for why he kept treating me so poorly then hoping over and over again that things would magically change for the better on its own?" 

She is, after all, responsible for herself, isn't she...? 

She has choices in this world just like everyone else, doesnt she...? 

It is up to her to teach others how to treat her, isn't it...?

Then it dawned on her.... she fucked up.

Somewhere along the line she misplaced parts of her self-worth, and she blamed it on him. 

Somewhere along the line she started lying to herself, and she blamed it on him. 

Somewhere along the line she started hating herself for staying loyal to a relationship that was killing her on the inside, and instead of taking accountability for what she was doing to herself.... she blamed it all on him.

She fucked up. Plain and simple. 
And the truth, it fucking hurts.
