Once  upon a time, I trusted the mirror,
but the mirror, it somehow lied.
It made me think that all I'm worth
can be seen only from the outside.

Yet still, I trusted the mirror,
but it only showed what's skin deep.
It doesn't show how my eyelids flutter,
when I'm drifting off to sleep.

It doesn't show what the world sees
when I'm only being me,
or how my eyes light up,
when I'm lost in a moment of glee.

It doesn't capture my emotions
where no one else can see,
and the mirror can't capture everything,
not everything that's within me.

Now I don't trust the mirror,
for it only shows my skin.
It doesn't dictate my worth,
or all that I am within.
