I am letting go of you today.

A lone thread snaps with the weight of what went wrong.

A familiar voice inside me whispers gently, "please stay."

Ignoring the voice as it transforms into an enticing song. 

For, I am letting go of you today.

Fragments of thought racing through this web of disillusion.

Devouring every word until there are no words, nothing left to say.

The words hang in the air like fog, insuing terror and mass confusion. 

Alas, I am letting go of you today.

Sinking in this muddy water, don't you know you're in way too deep?

The abyss swallows me as you eventually go under and wash away.

For you are the part that hides in shadows until the rest of me is fast asleep.  

I wish I was letting go of you today.
