Today's song of the day is Motown Philly by Boyz II Men. Written by Dallas Austin, Shawn Stockman, Nate Morris and Michael Bivens in 1990 and released in 1991, it returned R&B to the mainstream. The song would hit number 3 but was the first and still arguably most popular hit of the group's stellar career. Growing up in Philly, we didn't have many bands/groups that were from the city that made it big. The summer of 1991 was the Boys II Men and DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince summer and it was all Philly. Let me know what you think.
