My heart weeps,

As a virus takes souls

And leaves the world in crisis.

My heart weeps,

As small businesses close

And shop owners lose their livelihoods.

My heart weeps,

At injustice at the hands of our protectors

As well as those who incite violence.

My heart weeps,

As storefronts and police stations

Are burned to the ground.

My heart weeps,

For innocent lives caught in the crossfire

Of uncontrolled rage.

My heart weeps,

For my children as they struggle to understand the insanity befallen on the world.

My heart weeps,

For our existence in this world.

My heart weeps,

For humanity.
