Hello my name is Kiki, I was 16 years old and a sophomore at a high school in Lansing Mi. I've been in special Olympics since I was in elementary school,I played basketball, poly hockey, swimming, snow shoeing, track, bocce ball and cheer. Special Olympics is really fun to me it allowed me too meet new people it also teaches me sport skills. It was my second year in project unify, it about bringing people together and making new friends. When I was a freshman at my school I joined the unify cheer team at my school I went to the practices and cheer at the winter homecoming pep rally in front of my school and then we also perform at the district wide r-word rally in March we did that when I was a sophomore also. I even got to wear a cheerleader uniform we got bows to wear in our hair they were blue, white and really pretty. I felt happy to be a part of the unify cheer team and I faced my fears to be in front of the whole school. I was excited to be cheer leading with my friends. When I was a freshman and my friend name brittanie was a senior we told our story to the House and the Senate,we were trying to get a law passed where that Michigan cant use the word retarded anymore kids with disabilities like myself can't help that we was born that way, when we found out that the law was passed I felt proud that our stories help to make this law .Project unify allowed me to be meet new friends
