I am smiling 
I am laughing 
I am dying

I cannot live like this 
But I'm not ready to die 
So where do I go?
Nowhere but down 

Help is so far away
Being offered from so near 
I can't accept this 
I don't know how 

I am depression 
I am alone in a crowd 
I am sad amidst laughter 
I am overwhelmed by the nothing

    Some of my most emotive poetry came out of deeply depressive episodes. In fact, it was the only time I could ever write poetry. Depression is hard, but the other side of it has its rewards. Anyway, I liked your poem.

  • well, this poem does describe a depressed person. In this current era, I don't think there's a creature left out there free from depression. We have to live though.
